FUW Insurance Services Ltd has launched a new department, FUW Commercial, aimed at expanding its presence in the North Wales commercial insurance market.
The new division will initially serve businesses along the A55 corridor, offering insurance across various sectors, including freight, construction, hospitality, automotive trade, retail, and leisure.
This expansion represents a shift from the company’s traditional focus on agricultural clients to a broader scope that includes commercial enterprises.
FUW Commercial will offer a range of commercial insurance products, including property, vehicle, liability, and business continuity insurance. Positioned as a regional provider, the company leverages local knowledge and industry expertise, supported by its established network of brokers.
Esther Richards Dip CII will lead the new venture. Richards has been with FUW Insurance Services since 2013, working at the Flintshire and Denbighshire offices.
Richards said, “I’m excited to lead this project, which prioritizes meeting the insurance needs of businesses and commercial establishments.”
FUW Insurance Services is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW). The establishment of FUW Commercial aligns with the union’s 70th anniversary and is part of a broader strategy to diversify the company’s insurance offerings beyond its core agricultural sector.
Guto Bevan, CEO of the FUW Group, commented, “We are always looking for opportunities to grow the FUW Insurance Services brand and extend our services to Welsh businesses that need insurance. Esther’s expertise and enthusiasm for commercial and business insurance will help us build a new brand focused on commercial opportunities.”
FUW Commercial will operate as an independent business line while continuing to share operational support with the FUW Insurance Services team. The company has indicated that it may expand its commercial insurance services to other regions depending on customer demand.
